
Dr. Koger
is an alumna of Metro Schools, graduating from John Overton High School. After
graduating she accepted an athletic scholarship to attend Missouri State University
where she later received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She later
continued her advanced studies at Tennessee State University where she obtained
her Master’s, Educational Specialist and Doctoral degrees, becoming one of the
youngest African American females to do so in school history. As a doctoral student and Adjunct Professor
at Tennessee State University, she had
the distinguished honor of being nominated and awarded a Barbara Jackson
Scholar through the University Council of Educational Leadership and American Educational
Research Association. Additionally, she
has served on the Board of Directors for the H.O.Y.A.S Foundation (Helping Our
Youth Achieve Success), volunteered with YMCA annual mentor and fundraising
events and has received the Civic Award for her community service through MNPD
and MNPS.
Through Dr. Koger’s many professional experiences,
she has a unique perspective on how to be a transformational leader within
education and the community. As a result of her hard work and dedication in the
field of education and in the community, she has earned the respect of those
around her. She is a proud wife and daughter. Her hobbies include running, reading
and traveling with her family. She is a role model for youth and the students
that she serves.
